Nail Trimming

Nail Trimming for Dogs at Millie Moo Dog Grooming

Nail trimming is an essential part of your dog’s overall health and well-being. Proper nail care helps prevent discomfort, injury, and even long-term health issues. Overgrown nails can lead to a range of problems, including difficulty walking, joint pain, and even injury to the nail bed or surrounding tissue. In severe cases, excessively long nails can cause the toes to become misaligned, which can affect your dog’s gait and posture.

Why Nail Trimming is Important:

  • Prevents injury: Long nails can get caught on carpets, furniture, or outdoor surfaces, leading to painful tears or broken nails.
  • Promotes proper posture: When nails grow too long, your dog may alter their natural stance or gait to avoid putting pressure on their nails, which can lead to joint stress or discomfort.
  • Improves comfort: Keeping your dog’s nails at a proper length ensures that they can walk comfortably and avoid the pressure that long nails can cause on their paws.

Nail Trimming Options:

I offer several different nail trimming options to suit your dog’s needs and comfort level:

  • Clippers: The traditional method for trimming nails, providing precise and quick results.
  • Electric Nail Files: A gentler option, using a vibrating file to gradually wear down the nails, which is ideal for dogs who are nervous or sensitive to clippers.
  • Scratch Boards: A natural way for dogs to wear down their nails by using a rough surface. This method works well for dogs who enjoy scratching and helps maintain nail length between trims.
  • Manual Nail Files: For a more controlled and gentle approach, manual filing is available for small touch-ups or for dogs that require a more gradual nail care method.

Please note that nail trimming is offered as a complimentary service. However, there are various reasons why it may not always be necessary or possible to carry out. I will assess the nails during the appointment and will trim them if the pet is comfortable and allows me to do so.

Regular nail trimming is a key part of keeping your dog comfortable and healthy. Let me help you maintain their paws in top condition!
