Dog Grooming FAQ: Answers to Your Questions

Please reach us at milliemoodoggrooming@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Meet and greets are a wonderful opportunity for your dog to become familiar with me and the salon environment before any grooming takes place. These visits help build confidence, create positive associations, and allow your dog to explore at their own pace. Of course, there are plenty of tasty treats involved too!

These sessions allow me to build a relationship with your dog before expecting them to take part in a full grooming appointment. They help your dog become familiar with me, the salon environment, grooming equipment, and handling in a positive, stress-free way. The result is often a more relaxed and confident dog during future grooming appointments.

As soon as your puppy has completed their vaccinations, they are welcome to start their grooming journey at Millie Moo Dog Grooming. The sooner we can begin introducing grooming in a positive and gentle way, the better.

That’s absolutely fine. If your dog is new to grooming, we will begin with training and confidence-building sessions before introducing a full groom. This allows us to build trust, create positive experiences, and help your dog feel comfortable with the grooming process.

Absolutely. Senior dogs are very welcome at Millie Moo Dog Grooming. I tailor every appointment to the individual dog’s needs, taking into account their mobility, comfort levels, health conditions, and energy levels. Plenty of breaks and extra care are provided to ensure a positive experience.

Please bring your dog along with a blanket or towel from home that carries familiar scents to help them feel comfortable and settled. I also encourage owners to bring some high-value treats, such as chicken, and a small amount of wet food that can be used on lick

I use high-quality, natural products that are fragranced using essential oils and plant-based ingredients. I carefully select products that are gentle on your dog’s skin and coat while providing a pleasant grooming experience.

Every dog is different, and if your presence helps your dog feel more comfortable and relaxed, you are welcome to stay. We will always do what is in the best interests of your dog’s wellbeing.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Every dog is unique, and grooming requirements vary depending on breed, coat type, lifestyle, and individual needs. Once I have met your dog and assessed their coat and grooming requirements, I can recommend a grooming schedule that works best for them.

If your dog has significant matting, the kindest and most humane option is often to clip the coat short rather than attempt to brush the mats out. Brushing severe matting can be extremely uncomfortable and painful for dogs. I will always discuss the condition of your dog’s coat with you and explain the options available, ensuring your dog’s welfare remains the priority.

Appointment times vary depending on your dog’s breed, coat type, coat condition, behaviour, and individual needs. I never rush appointments and always allow time for breaks throughout the groom, ensuring your dog remains comfortable and relaxed.

As every dog is an individual, pricing is discussed during your meet and greet appointment once I have had the opportunity to meet your dog, assess their coat, and understand their grooming needs. This ensures you receive an accurate quote tailored to your dog.

Card payment or bank transfer is preferred. Payment is due upon collection of your dog following their appointment.

I highly recommend booking your dog’s next appointment when you collect them from their groom. This helps ensure you secure a suitable appointment time and maintain a regular grooming schedule.
